Like a surgeon with a scalpel, the woodcarver is able to use the heel of his hand to exert forward force while his fingers maintain a controlled grip closer toward the cutting edge, resulting in a higher level of control for carving shapes out of relief or sculptures.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eNarex uses a number designation for the profile shape of the steel, hence the name Profi for their series of chisels! Is the chisel more or less straight between the handle ferrule and the cutting edge? If so, that may be a Profile 11. But if the steel has a pronounced gooseneck shape between the ferrule and the cutting edge that could be a Profile 1.
